Surya Electric introduces Flying Cold Saw for High Speed Tube Mills. Operational ease, low maintenance & energy efficiency give a unique edge to the Surya Electric Private Limited’s cold saw . It has various advantages over a traditional Friction Saw.

The Flying Cold Saw serves to cut the endless tube, emerging out of the mill, into commercial lengths. The Cold cutting process additionally provides for an almost burr free cut of tubes and profiles.

The Flying Cold Saw is suitable for installation in any new or existing tube and profile manufacturing line and worSE automatically & independent from the tube mill’s control system.

The Flying Cold Saw machine consists of a carriage, traveling on a base frame and guided by a linear motion system. The base frame and the carriage is of a very sturdy design and is made of fabricated steel. The carriage is fitted with a vertical turning plate rotating on slewing ring bearing. The plate is fitted with two blade drive assemblies facing each other. Each assembly in Flying Cold Saw consists of a blade housing, drive motor, blade feed slide on LM guides and servo motor connected to a ball screw. Both assemblies move radially in , cut the tube thickness and then the complete turn table plate rotates for 180deg to complete the cut. Special programming is done for cutting SHS/RHS sections.

The two hydraulically actuated tube clamping devices, with non-changeable clamping vices, are fitted on each side of the rotary housing on the carriage. The vices are clamping the tube from 4 sides and are common for all tube sizes & shapes.

The carriage travels on four blocSE of the linear motion system and is powered by an AC Servo motor via a gearbox transmitting to a Timing belt & Pulley system working under pre-tension to facilitate an absolutely positive driving mechanism.

The movement of the carriage is controlled by a micro controller, which guarantees very close cutting tolerances. An incremental encoder records tube speed & length and submits it to the controller. The controller senses, monitors & controls carriage acceleration, speed, synchronization and cutting position.

In case of a power failure or failure of electrical controls, there are automatically adjusting shock absorbers provided at both ends of the base frame.
